Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme

The Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pensions Scheme (IGNOAPS) is one of the components of National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP).Under this scheme monthly pension are provided to person fulfilling following criteria

1) He/She must belong to a household Below Poverty Line according to prescribed criteria

2)His/Her age must be 60years or above ( prior to 1st April 2011 earlier cutoff age was 65)

Monthly pension provided by central government for the age group 60-79 is Rs200 , while for age group 80 and above it is Rs500.

As a result of change in the eligibility criteria for receiving old age pension, eligibility criteria for widow pension under IGNWPS and disability pension under IGNDPS get revised from 40-64 years to 40-59 years and from 18-64 years to 18-59 years respectively.
