India Myanmar Sign Pacts

India and Myanmar have signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation in the areas of science and technology and an MoU in health care.

The agreements were signed after the delegation level talks between the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and the visiting Myanmar President U. Thein Sein at Hyderabad House in New Delhi today.

Strengthening of strategic cooperation besides partnership in energy sector remained at the centre of discussions between the visiting President of Myanmar U. Thein Sein and the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi today.

Intensifying cooperation in security and defence fields also figured prominently in the talks between the two leaders.

The two sides also held discussions on key transport projects to accelerate connectivity between the two countries.

The economic cooperation between the two countries is on the upswing and the bilateral trade which is at present at 1.28 billion dollars is expected to touch three billion dollars by 2015.
